The founder of NJ Mediator, John F. Gelson, is one of the most experienced and successful mediators in New Jersey. Since 1995, his practice has been primarily devoted to serving as a mediator and arbitrator in civil matters and as a court-appointed receiver and discovery master. He has mediated more than 800 cases, approximately 85 percent to settlement. In addition to Mr. Gelson, NJ Mediator has two other highly trained attorneys on staff who are fully equipped to help you resolve your legal issues. Let our lawyers put their dedication, experience and skill to work for you.
More than 30 years of experience on your side
Prior to becoming mediators, our lawyers spent their careers litigating in state and federal court. Our attorneys have served as corporate counsel for Fortune 500 companies, health care systems, multiple banking institutions and government entities. These experiences have allowed us to help parties understand the risks and costs of litigation, and educate them on the advantages that mediation and arbitration can provide. We prepare for mediation the same way a trial lawyer does for a case. Our attorneys pride themselves coming into a mediation with a full understanding of the facts, the law and each party’s perspective of the case. This approach builds clients' trust in the mediation process and allows clients to resolve their problems in an effective and efficient manner.
Learn more about mediation
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a neutral third party — a mediator — helps parties negotiate in order for them to reach a mutually beneficial settlement outside of court. The major distinction of mediation and arbitration is that a mediator does not make a decision about the outcome of the case. The parties, with the assistance of their attorneys, work toward a solution with which they are comfortable.
